2017 Denmark Super Series Premier Tournament: Srikanth Kidambi Beats Lee Hyun-il in Final

The star Indian shuttler was always the favourite in the final being the higher seed.

New Delhi: India’s top men’s singles player Kidambi Srikanth made short work of Wong Wing Ki Vincent, as he defeated the Hong Kong’s shuttler 21-18, 21-17, within a span of 39 minutes to reach the final of Denmark Open Super Series.

After stunning World No. 1 Viktor Axelsen to reach the semi-finals of the tournament, Srikanth, unlike yesterday, was not really troubled by his opponent, as he negotiated the difficult moments in the two games with relative ease. With this, the 24-year-old makes it to his fourth final in 2017 and has assured India of a gold or silver medal.

Talking about the match, then Srikanth started the opening game on a positive note and went into the mid-game interval with a healthy five-point advantage. He coupled attacking winners with delicate drop shots to maintain his lead and wrapped up the opening game in 18 minutes.

The second game was not much different than the previous one as Srikanth once again took a 4-0 lead early in the game, however, this time Vincent bounced back and made it 4-4. The game then turned into the neck to neck competition as the score was tied at 11-11.

Later, some smashes from the Indian and unforced errors from Vincent helped Srikanth to win the game and storm into yet another Superseries final, his fourth this year.
