The woman, who allegedly honey-trapped BJP MP from Gujarat's Valsad KC Patel, has been sent to 5-day custody of the Delhi police.
After she was produced before the Tis Hazari Court on Tuesday, the prosecution argued that 5 days were needed to ensure further investigation, recover evidence and check thoroughly the bank accounts of the accused.
The BJP MP filed a complaint alleging that he was honey-trapped by a woman, who invited him to her residence, drugged him and later took obscene pictures of him.
The prosecution also stated in court that the woman demanded Rs. 5 crore from the BJP MP and told him that this money would be shared by the court and police officials.
HAVE CLIPS OF PHONE CONVERSATIONS: PROSECUTION
The prosecution confirmed that there were recordings of phone conversations to prove this.
The woman had filed a complaint of rape against the BJP MP, but she continues to be in the dock. The Delhi police on Tuesday arrested her under Sections 384 and 389 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Meanwhile, the woman's lawyer maintains that she is innocent and has been framed. "The police is working under political pressure, adding that no action was taken when his client filed a rape complaint."
