Violence in Delhi Live, North East Delhi CAA-NRC Protest Live News: Sporadic violence was reported from riot-hit areas in northeast Delhi on Thursday as the situation remains tense for the fouth consecutive day. Jaffarabad, Maujpur, Chandbagh, Gokulpuri and surrounding areas are the worst affected localities due to the violence that broke out on Sunday. Most shops were closed with their shutters bearing marks of the violence. The death toll on Thursday morning mounted to 35, according to a PTI report.Meanwhile, a Congress delegation led by party president Sonia Gandhi met President Ram Nath Kovind to submit a memorandum on the situation prevailing in the national capital. Speaking to reporters, Sonia said, "We call upon you (President) to ensure that life, liberty, & property of citizens are preserved. We also reiterate that you should immediately call for the removal of the Home Minister for his inability to contain violence." Former PM Manmohan Singh said violence on the national capital is a matter of great concern and a matter of national shame. ‘"It is a reflection on total failure of Central government," he said.
