Delhi prepares for COVID vaccination drive; 2.27 lakhs frontline workers to be vaccinated

The COVID vaccine will be rolling out on Jan 16 and in the first phase close to 30 Cr individuals will be vaccinated. The Centre has already made it clear that the priority will be given to health workers and frontline workers. Ahead of the rollout, Delhi begins its preparations. Delhi government has also finalized 89 hospitals, out of which 40 are government-run hospitals to carry out the COVID vaccination drive. Close to 2.25 lakhs frontline workers and health care workers will be vaccinated. The vaccines will arrive by January 12th. The Delhi government has claimed that they have a robust system for procuring and storing vaccines. Commenting on the free vaccine for all appeal, the Delhi Government has stated that once they have enough vaccines, they can give it for free.
