The police in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa have been alerted by the intelligence agencies about twin threats from Islamic State and al-Qaeda, reported The Times of India, on quoting sources.
The report, on Monday, 25 March, warn of terrorists avenging the New Zealand incident and a possible strike on Jewish establishments.
"We have taken all precautions regarding our intelligence inputs, all SPs been alerted, and Anti-Terror Squad put on alert," Goa IGP Jaspal Singh told ANI. The Delhi Police too said that they were "keeping a close watch on the developments.”
The terrorists are likely to use a vehicle or an unconventional knife in the attacks, the report said, adding that the vigil around Israeli Embassy, Consulate General in Mumbai, Chanad houses be increased.
While the first alert, dated 20 March, talks of IS planning to avenge New Zealand terror attack, the second one, dated 23 March predicts a possible air strike by al-Qaeda.
“As per the information received from multiple sources, an audio speech of IS spokesperson Abu Hassan al-Muhajir is being circulated on closed online groups and chat platforms wherein Muhajir is heard calling on his supporters to avenge the massacre at the mosques. This audio and other chatter indicates intent to avenge the incident. Appropriate action may be taken in this connection,” the input reads, reported The Times of India.
