New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) A 25-year-old man was arrested on Monday in connection with the killing of a minor girl in Rohini's Begumpur area here, police said.

Laik Khan had allegedly killed Neetu due to her refusal to marry him, police said.

Khan was nabbed from Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh around 12 noon on Monday by a Delhi Police team, a senior police officer said, adding he was frequently changing his location to evade arrest.

Khan was absconding since Friday when the 17-year-old victim's body was found at her house in Begum Vihar, police said.

According to police, the deceased earlier used to live with her family in the Bawana area and Khan was their neighbour there. The girl’s family shifted to the Begumpur area about one year ago.

Preliminary enquiry revealed that the girl had told him that her family was looking for a man to marry her, following which Khan got furious and killed her, sources said.

Police are bringing him back to the national capital and further details will be ascertained after his interrogation, they added. PTI NIT NIT AQS AQS
