Delhi: India, UK home secretaries to meet in May; Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi's extradition to top agenda

The extradition list of India has 11 names including Vijay Mallya, Christian Micheal and Lalit Modi.

The King of Good Times liqour baron Vijay Mallya, who was recently arrested by Scotland Yard and in matter of hours got bail, in the multi-crore money laundering case will be high on agenda when UK, India Home Secretaries meet in first week of May in New Delhi. The extradition list of India has 11 names including Mallya, Christian Micheal and Lalit Modi.

The 2016 cooperation between India-UK joint statement on extradition had said, "In this context, they directed that the officials dealing with extradition matters from both sides should meet at the earliest to develop better understanding of each countries' legal processes and requirements; share best practices, and identify the causes of delays and expedite pending requests."

India is also likely to express concern of Khalistani channel being aired in UK. However, top sources say that India can play a limited role if the channels conform to cable and local laws.
