Delhi HC hears plea on hiking crematoriums in National Capital amidst increase in deaths due to COVID-19

A plea has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a hike in crematoriums in Delhi amidst the spike in the number of deaths due to COVID-19. The petitioner has cited that adding more furnaces will only result in the violation of the social distancing norms. The HC bench led by Chief Justice DL Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh has issued a notice on this plea. The court has also stated that the rise in the number of cases of COVID-19 and the deaths due to that have resulted in a backlog of the dead bodies and thus the entire city has turned into a graveyard.
