Delhi HC dismisses PIL seeking restrain on media from reporting COVID news

The coronavirus cases have been increasing continuously for the last one month, now a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Delhi High Court regarding banning the airing of insensitive or negative news on their news channels, such as mass-scale deaths and people suffering due to shortage of oxygen and ICU beds. But the Delhi High Court has dismissed it by saying that informing the public about Covid-19 death numbers is not negative news.

A Bench of Justin Patel and Justin Jasmeet Singh on Monday while dismissing the PIL said, "It seems this is publicity interest litigation instead of public interest litigation." The court further said, we find no reason to entertain the plea. Watch out the video for more information.
