Delhi HC asks Centre to decide policy for distribution of Black Fungus drug

Delhi High Court has directed the Central government to devise a policy for the allocation of Amphotericin-B, which is a drug that is being used in the treatment of Mucormycosis. The government was until now distributing this drug on a pro rata basis. Mucormycosis or Black Fungus is a disease that has been infecting people who took an overdose of COVID-19 steroids. Many states in the country have declared Black Fungus as an epidemic. This fungal disease has come at a time when India is already reeling with the deadly second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
