Delhi Assembly Election 2020, Congress candidate list: The Congress party has released the list of 54 candidates for the February 8 Delhi Assembly polls. The grand old party has focused on fresh faces to take on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The party has not decided its candidate against Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat. The party has fielded Lakshman Rawat against Deputy CM Manish Sisodia from Patparganj. Former AAP leader Alka Lamba, who switched over to the Congress, will enter the fray from Chandni Chowk Assembly seat. Party’s election campaign committee chairman Kirti Azad’s wife Poonam Azad will contest from Sangam Vihar. Former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely will contest from the Gandhi Nagar seat.

Meanwhile, Adarsh Shastri quit the AAP after the party denied him a ticket from Dwarka. He joined the Congress on Saturday in presence of state president Subhash Chopra and senior leader PC Chacko. He will contest from Dwaraka on a Congress ticket.

The Delhi Legislative Assembly has 70 seats. Polling will take place on February 8 and results will be declared on February 11. The Congress ruled Delhi under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit for 15 years between 1998 and 2013. In the 2015 Assembly elections, the grand old party drew a blank.
