Aam Aadmi Party member and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today conceded his party's defeat in bypoll for Rajouri Garden Assembly constituency. The AAP was relegated to the third spot as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress bagged the first two positions respectively. HOW IT HAPPENED
Sisodia said AAP will work hard to win back people support and expressed confidence of winning the upcoming MCD polls.
"We will work hard for Rajouri Garden and make people understand. We will try to sort out the shortcomings. We will also consult the people. We will win MCD polls," Sisodia said.
Meanwhile, AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been continuously locking horns with the Election Commission over EVM tampering issue.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today questioned the Election Commission's "open challenge" to political parties and experts to prove that EVMs can be manipulated.
Kejriwal wondered why the Commission was not coming out with any official statement and pushing the news of the reported challenge through "sources" instead.
"Why are these stories ascribed to "sources"? How credible are they? Why hasn't EC issued any formal statement? Or is it just a plant? Has anyone actually seen any official statement from CEC? Am trying to get it since evening. Is this news correct?" he said in a series of tweets.
A win for the BJP will add one more seat for the party in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. AAP had won 67 seats in Assembly elections held in 2015.
