Delhi: Bike 'joyride' goes horribly wrong, Class VII student succumbs to injuries

The student's friend Akash, who was riding with him, is battling for his life in hospital.

Overspeeding or a possible stunt on a under-construction flyover in the Mukundpur area in northwest Delhi proved fatal for a minor biker.

The incident was reported by passersby who noticed two youths lying unconscious on the road near the pillar of Mukundpur flyover at 7.30 am on Tuesday.

One of the victims, identified as Karan Dutt alias Kannu (15), was a class VII student.

He sustained multiple fractures and succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His friend Akash is battling for his life in Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital.

The Royal Enfield Bullet belongs to Karan.

"The police investigation reveals that both of them had gone for a joyride prima facie and due to high speed, the rider lost balance at the curve of the flyover, lead to the accident," said Aslam Khan, DCP of northwest district.

Local residents suspect that that the bikers were performing stunts at a high speed. They lost control of the vehicle and fell off the flyover. The motorbike was found on the flyover.

"There were tyre marks on the flyover which indicates that bikers could be performing stunts," said an official of Jahangirpuri police station.
