Delhi air pollution remains in ‘severe category'; Medical body links COVID cases spike to pollution

Delhi-NCR pollution level today: The pollution levels in the national capital continue to remain in the 'severe category'. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the city was recorded at 413. A sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 cases reported in the state is also high.

The Indian Medical Association's body has linked the rise in the cases to the pollution woes in Delhi. According to them, 13% of the cases are linked to a rise in pollution levels and deteriorating air quality.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, in Anand Vihar, the AQI was recorded at 484, Ashok Vihar 451, Bawana 483, Mathura Road 453, Dwarka 476, Dilshad Garden 470, ITO 468, Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal 3) 460, Sirifort 437, all falling under the ‘severe’ category.
