A 40-year-old man, identified as Anil Gupta, committed suicide on Wednesday by jumping in front of a moving train at Adarsh Nagar Metro station in Delhi.
The information about the suicide on Delhi Metro lines was received by Azadpur Metro Police Station at around 3 pm. While no suicide note has been found, Gupta's body has been sent for post-mortem.
According to police sources, the man jumped in front of the moving train on platform number one of the Adarsh Nagar station and died on the spot after being hit by the incoming train.
The suicide comes days after another 26-year-old girl had committed suicide in a similar way by jumping in front of a moving metro train at Model Town Metro station last Saturday.
Just a day after the Model Town Metro incident, another middle-aged woman jumped in front of a moving metro at Jhandewalan Metro station.
After the string of suicides over the last few days, Delhi Metro on Monday appealed people to refrain from taking such extreme steps and launched a campaign.
"It is okay to have bad days, but more importantly, remember that it is okay to ask for help," Delhi Metro said in a tweet.
However, it seems that Metro authorities need to increase vigilance in order to curb such incidents.
