Irrfan Khan – Deepika Padukone’s Biopic On Mafia Queen Sapna Didi To Be Shelved Following His Diagnosis?
Deepika Padukone is fresh off the success of Padmaavat and she has already started prepping for her next film, where she dons a challenging role once again. The gorgeous and talented actress is all set to team up with ace filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj in a film based on mafia queen Sapna Didi. She will pair up with her Piku co-star Irrfan Khan in this one. The film has got a title finally and as per reports, will be called Rani.
According to a report in Indian Express Deepika has started prepping for her role as the Mafia queen Sapna Didi and while playing her, the biggest challenge lies in getting the tonality and body language right. Deepika is going all out to ensure that she does justice to the role. The film, Rani, is slated to go on floors in March in Mumbai. Deepika has set the bar high and she knows in a film based on a woman character, expectations will be high.
Incidentally, films on Mumbai based gangsters – Haseena Parkar starring Shraddha Kapoor and Daddy starring Arjun Rampal released last year. While the films were much awaited projects, they failed to get numbers at the box office or impress audience or critics. Despite the genre being one that ensure bums on seats in the theatres, both the films tanked.
It remains to be seen how Deepika Padukone fares with her portrayal of a mafia queen. This is something she has never attempted before and if she does succeed in nailing it, it will go down as one of the biggest, successful risks in her film-o-graphy.
