Daily wage workers begin their journey on foot to their villages amid lockdown

Several daily wage workers have no other way than to try reaching their villages on foot. Country was put under lockdown over rising cases of coronavirus after Prime Minister's announcement. "We are not getting food or any service, what will we do? We are going back to our villages," said a worker. Another daily wage worker stated that he is going back to his family as he will not have anything to do amid lockdown. Daily wage workers are among worst hit as nation has come to standstill. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced relief package for poor on March 26. Under package, state governments have been asked to use welfare fund to help construction labourers.
