DA case: Jagan Reddy reaches CBI court (Lead:Jagan)

Hyderabad, May 28 (ANI): YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy reached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here today, a day after he was arrested in the alleged disproportionate assets case.

The arrest came after three days of interrogation at Hyderabad's Dilkusha Guest House, where Reddy is currently being held.

Meanwhile, his party, the YSR Congress, has called for a shutdown across Andhra Pradesh.

His mother, Vijayamma, an MLA, has also launched an indefinite fast outside her home in Hyderabad's Lotus Pond.

Additional forces have been deployed in sensitive places and prohibitory orders limiting the assembly of people under Section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Kadapa, which is Jagan's Lok Sabha constituency.

Before the arrest, Jagan said it was a conspiracy by the ruling Congress and the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to create a law and order situation to postpone the June by-elections.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court and a CBI court have struck down his petition seeking exemption from personal appearance before the investigating agency.

Jagan's anticipatory bail petition was also kept aside by the CBI Court. The court had asked the CBI to file a fresh counter affidavit against him.

Jagan is accused of conspiring with his father to dole out favours to companies that invested in his businesses in a quid pro quo arrangement. (ANI)
