Cyclone Tauktae Aftermath: Rescue ops underway in Mumbai; why did ONGC ignore alerts?

A barge belonging to the ONGC, which was contracted to another company capsized in the aftermath of the Cyclone Tauktae. The rescue operations began last night and as many as 26 people have lost their lives, while 40 are still missing. Amid the rescue operations which are currently underway at the coast off Mumbai, the ONGC has invited criticism in regards to the warnings and red alerts which were ignored by them. The Met department has also weighed in and stated that at least two warnings were issued by the coast guard, further adding that the red alerts were issued to get their vessel off board to ensure that no damage is sustained
