Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have responded to some reports that MS Dhoni could leave the team before the Indian Premier League (IPL) season in 2021.
Replying to a news article titled "MS Dhoni wants to leave CSK? Former captain could join rival team in IPL 2021," the CSK Twitter handle said, "No, the nation knows that!"

Some media reports said that Dhoni has asked CSK to not retain him ahead of the big IPL auction scheduled in 2021. The report said that Dhoni had suggested that CSK use their 'Right to Match' option to buy him back for a lower price than what they had bought him for in the inaugural season of the cash-rich league. This would give CSK increased financial power to buy players in the 2021 auction, after which the teams are set to be majorly rejigged.
Dhoni's performance in the 2020 IPL has a lot riding on it. While Dhoni himself has offered a cryptic response when asked about his return to international cricket - "Don't ask me till January" - India head coach Ravi Shastri has said the India squad for the World T20 can be decided only after the IPL next season.
