- New photos from the set of The Crown show actress Emma Corrin portraying Princess Diana at the Savoy Hotel.
- The budding star will play the iconic princess in the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix show.
- Diana was photographed at the Savoy in 1989, three years before she and Prince Charles would announce their separation.
Last week, rising actress Emma Corrin went full '80s royal mode as she made another appearance as Princess Diana while filming The Crown's fourth season. The cast and crew of the hit Netflix series were photographed occupying the entrance of London's Savoy Hotel to recreate the late princess' appearance there over 30 years ago.
Corrin was the spitting image of Diana in a perfectly retro, feathered blonde bob and a ruched, asymmetrical floral dress. This is the latest of the royal's iconic looks Corrin has worn, following a cream dress from Diana and Prince Charles's visit to Ayers Rock, and a bright pink ensemble from a walkabout in Australia.
The Savoy scene seems to be a nod to Diana's appearances to the hotel in 1989, eight years after she and Charles married but three years before they'd announce their break up. In May of 1989, she was photographed arriving with the same hairstyle Corrin wears, but a different floral dress. Her frock was a black and white knee-length number with pink and yellow bouquet accents.
Months earlier, in March, she was spotted at the same location to attend a performance of Moulin Rouge. The princess wore an icy blue strapless dress by Catherine Walker at the time.
There's no set premiere date for The Crown Season 4 just yet, but the show is expected to return this fall, a year after Season 3 debuted with a new cast that includes Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles, and Erin Doherty as Princess Anne.
As for Corrin's performance in the fourth season, O'Connor teased to BAZAAR.com, "Emma’s doing a brilliant job, and it’s breathtakingly accurate; she looked the spitting image [of Diana], and it’s kind of extraordinary. So that’s kind of spooky."
