COVID update: Guidelines for Unlock 2 released, Maharashtra extends shutdown till July 31

New Delhi, June 29 (ANI): The Home Ministry on June 29 issued new guidelines for `Unlock 2' which will come into force from July 1 extending the process of phased re-opening of activities including expanding in a calibrated manner domestic flights and passenger trains. A MHA release said that schools, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed till July 31 and the decision has been taken after extensive consultation with states. Lockdown shall continue to remain in force in the containment zone till July 31 and only essential services will be allowed. Night curfew timings have been further relaxed and curfew shall be in force from 10 pm to 5 am. Maharashtra has reported 181 deaths and 5,257 new COVID19 cases. Out of 181 deaths, 78 occurred in the last 48 hours. The total number of cases in the state reached 1,69,883 including 73,298 active cases, stated State Health Department. Maharashtra government on Monday extended the lockdown imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 till July 31. The number of confirmed cases in Tamil Nadu stood at 86,224 after 3,949 cases was reported on Monday. The total numbers of COVID-19 positive cases in the State include 47,749 discharges, 37,331 active cases and 1,141 deaths, State Health Department informed. Delhi has reported 2084 new COVID-19 positive cases and 57 deaths today. Total number of cases stands at 85161 including 26246 active cases, 56235 recovered/discharged/migrated cases and 2680 deaths.
