COVID crisis management: SC pulls up Centre on vaccination policy; orders to submit affidavit

The Central government kickstarted the third phase of the vaccination drive on 1st May, 2021. Several states denied launching the vaccine drive citing shortage of vaccine supply for those above 45 years of age. While several states agreed to kickstart the drive, they soon reported the shortage of supply which led to shutting down of vaccination centres. The Supreme Court has time and again pulled up the Centre over its vaccine policy and has demanded copies of filed notings this time to understand Central govt's thinking and culminating the vaccination policy. Further, the SC has demanded an affidavit from the Centre on the current COVID crisis and its management.
