With 1,379 COVID-19 Cases in 24 Hrs, Delhi Crosses 1 Lakh Mark

The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 24,248 to 6,97,413, while the death toll increased by 425 to 19,693 on Monday, 6 July. According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are now 2,53,287 active cases in the country, while 4,24,432 patients have been cured or discharged, and one has migrated.

Meanwhile, Delhi has crossed 1 lakh mark as the national capital recorded 1,379 news cases on Monday. Total cases in Delhi stood at 1,00,823 and deaths at 3,115.

Earlier on Monday, India had become the third worst-affected country globally, overtaking Russia, which has reported 6,80,283 cases, according to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University.

Meanwhile, monuments in and around Agra, including the Taj Mahal, are not reopening on Monday in view of the COVID-19 outbreak. "In the interest of the public, it has been decided that opening monuments in Agra will not be advisable as of now," said a notice issued by the district authorities on Sunday, reported Reuters. This comes after the Centre allowed the reopening of monuments from 6 July as part of its 'Unlock' plan.

COVID-19 cases in Delhi cross 1 lakh mark, with 1,379 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, ANI reports citing Delhi Government.

Total number of cases stands at 1,00,823 including 72,088 recovered/discharged/migrated and 25,620 active cases. 48 deaths reported today and the death toll is at 3,115.

'No Need to Panic': CM Kejriwal on Delhi COVID-19 Situation

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that while COVID-19 cases in the national capital have crossed the one lakh-mark, there is no need to panic as around 72,000 people have also recovered.

"Out of 25,000 active patients, 15,000 are being treated at home. Death rate has also come down. We've also started the country's first corona plasma bank. Our trials have shown that plasma therapy can help moderate patients improve significantly," he was quoted by ANI as saying in his press briefing.

Appealing eligible candidates to donate plasma, Kejriwal pointed out that the number of people who need plasma is more than those coming forward to donate it.

Rajasthan's COVID-19 Tally Rises to 20,263; Odisha's at 9,526

Rajasthan on Monday reported 99 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths, taking the tally in the state to 20,263 and the death toll to 459.

Meanwhile, Odisha reported 456 new infections, taking its tally to 9,526.

'Triple Lockdown' in Force in Thiruvananthapuram for a Week

A 'triple lockdown' with more restrictions is in force in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation area in Kerala from 6 am on Monday for a week, in view of the rising number of coronavirus cases, ANI reported.

While shops selling essential items are exempted from the lockdown, major roads leading to the city, except for an entry and exit road, will remain closed.
