COVID-19 spike triggers alert; 2 new variants found in Maharashtra Kerala and Telangana

Despite the massive Coronavirus vaccination drive in India, two new variants of the COVID-19 pandemic have been found in several states including Maharashtra Kerala and Telangana. 5 worst hit States, which includes Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir and Maharashtra, contributed to 86% of the total active COVID-19 cases in India.

Maharashtra is contributing to the maximum number of this daily COVID case count. 49% of the new cases are coming in from Maharashtra itself. Lockdown and night curfews have been imposed in several parts of Maharashtra. But, amid a daily rise in COVID-19 cases, incidents of flouting pandemic norms are also increasing.
