SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 10 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of Friday (23 October) noon, taking the country’s total cases to 57,951.
All 10 new cases are imported – including a one-year-old girl – marking the fifth day in a row with zero locally-transmitted COVID-19 infections.
All of them are also asymptomatic and proactively detected, said the MOH.
Of them, one is a Singaporean who returned from the US, while six are work pass and permit holders currently employed here who arrived from Bangladesh, Russia, the Philippines, and Switzerland.
The remaining three cases are two dependant’s pass holders – including the baby who arrived from the United Arab Emirates and another case from France – and a student’s pass holder who also arrived from France.
All cases had all been placed on the stay-home notice upon their arrival here and were tested while serving the notice.
The MOH noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased from four in the week before to two in the past week.
It added that the number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from none in the week before to two cases in the past week.

99% of total cases have recovered; none in ICU
With three more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Friday, 57,832 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 52 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while none is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 39 patients with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from 28 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
