COVID-19: Maha reports 2,171 new cases; 2,556 recover, 32 die

(Eds: Adding details) Mumbai, Jan 27 (PTI) Maharashtra's coronvirus tally on Wednesday increased to 20,15,524 with the addition of 2,171 cases, a state health official.

The state reported 32 deaths during the day, which took the fatality count to 50,894, he said.

A total of 2,556 patients recuperated after treatment, pushing the state's recovery count to 19,20,006.

With this, the number of active cases went up to 43,393.

Mumbai city reported 435 positive cases on Wednesday, which pushed its overall count to 3,07,175, while its death toll rose to 11,323 with six of the patients dying during the day alone.

Mumbai division, which consists of Mumbai city and its satellite towns, reported 783 new cases, taking the total count to 6,90,914. A total of 19,521 people have died so far in the region, the official said.

Nashik division's cumulative case tally stood at 2,75,072 and death toll at 5,086, while the number of cases in Pune division is 4,98,505 and the fatality count 11,540, the official said, he said.

Kolhapur division has so far reported 1,17,679 cases and 4,011 deaths, Aurangabad division 74,772 cases and 1,995 deaths, Latur division 81,996 cases and 2,464 deaths, Akola division 70,586 cases and 1,576 deaths, while Nagpur division's case count is 2,05,850 cases and death toll is 4,618.

With 51,867 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the overall test count of the state went up to 1,43,67,094.
