(Eds: Adds details) Mumbai, Nov 5 (PTI) Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally on Thursday crossed the 17 lakh-mark after it recorded 5,246 fresh cases, while more than 11,000 patients recovered from the infection, a state health department official said.
With the addition of the new cases in the last 24 hours, the state's COVID-19 tally rose to 17,03,444.
The state also reported 117 more deaths, taking the fatality count to 44,804, he said.
A total of 11,277 patients were discharged during the day, taking the tally of recovered people to 15,51,282, the official said.
With this, the number of active cases in the state dropped to 1,06,519.
Mumbai city reported 841 positive cases, which pushed its overall case count to 2,61,681, while its death toll rose to 10,377 with 25 more patients succumbing to the infection, the official said.
The state has so far conducted 92,50,254 tests.
The Mumbai division, which consists of Mumbai city and its satellite towns, reported 1,693 new cases, raising the total count to 5,91,457.
A total of 17,923 people have died so far in the region, the official said.
The number of cases in the Pune division stood at 4,30,560 and deaths at 9,936 the official said.
The Nashik division's cumulative case tally stood at 2,28,687 and death toll at 4,326, he said.
The Kolhapur division has reported 1,09,970 cases and 3,821 deaths till now, while the Aurangabad division's case tally stood at 63,858 and death count at 1,594.
The Latur division has reported 70,204 cases and 2,117 fatalities so far.
The Akola division has recorded 53,646 cases while 1,282 people have succumbed to the disease until now.
The Nagpur division has reported 1,52,850 infections and 3,654 fatalities so far, the official informed.
So far, there have been 2,212 cases where COVID-19 patients hailed from other states but received treatment in Maharashtra. Of these, 151 have died so far, he said.
