Bengaluru, June 29 (PTI) The total number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka breached the 14,000 mark on Monday with the addition of over 1,000 infections for the second consecutive day and 19 fatalities, taking the toll to 226, the health department said.
The day also saw 176 patients getting discharged after recovery while 268 were undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of various designated hospitals.
With 1,105 fresh cases, the state's COVID-19 tally stood at 14,295, including 226 deaths and 7,683 discharges, the department said in its bulletin.
Bengaluru Urban district accounted for a whopping 738 new cases while Ballari recorded 12 of the 19 deaths.
Karnataka on Sunday had recorded its biggest single-day spike of 1,267 COVID-19 cases.
Out of the 6,382 active cases, a total of 6,114 are in isolation at hospitals and were stable, the bulletin said.
Bengaluru Urban reported three deaths while Bagalkote, Ramanagara, Dakshina Kannada and Hassan one each.
The 19 deceased included 13 men in the age group of 31-70 and six women in 42-80 age group.
Bengaluru Urban district tops the districts with 4,052 cases, followed by Kalaburagi 1,421 and Udupi 1,197.
Among recoveries, Kalaburagi stood first with 1,048 discharges, followed by Udupi 1,045 and Yadgir 822.
A total of 6,05,159 samples had been tested so far, out of which 9,689 were on Monday alone. PTI KSU VS VS
