COVID-19: AP logs 10,413 new cases, 15,469 recoveries, 83 deaths

Amaravati, Jun 4 (PTI): Maintaining a steady rate of decline, Andhra Pradesh added 10,413 fresh cases of coronavirus in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Friday.

At the same time, the infection recovery rate continued on an upward trajectory as 15,469 more patients got cured in a day.

The latest bulletin said 83 patients died of Covid-19 in the state in 24 hours.

The state's Covid-19 chart now showed 17,38,990 total positives, 15,93,921 recoveries and 11,296 deaths so far.

The number of active cases came down to 1,33,773 now, the bulletin said.

The infection positivity rate that touched a peak of 25.56 per cent in mid-May, when the state reported daily cases in excess of 20,000, slid to over 12 per cent now.

The overall infection positivity rate was 8.83 per cent after 1.96 crore total tests so far.

After slumping to a low of 84.32 per cent in mid-May, the recovery graph once again climbed up to 91 per cent.

The overall mortality rate remained stable at 0.65 per cent, placing the state at the 20th position in the country, government data showed.

With the daily cases coming down and recoveries going up, load on hospitals reduced significantly, leaving a large number of beds vacant, including in ICUs.

In 24 hours, East Godavari district reported the highest number of 2,075 fresh positives and Chittoor 1,574.

The remaining 11 districts added less than 1,000 new cases each.

Chittoor reported 14 fresh Covid-19 fatalities, West Godavari 11, Anantapuramu eight, East Godavari and Srikakulam seven each, Guntur, Krishna, Vizianagaram six each, Kurnool and Visakhapatnam five each, SPS Nellore four, Prakasam three and Kadapa one in a day. PTI DBV BN BALA BN BALA
