COVID-19: 490 new cases in Karnataka, 5 deaths

Bengaluru, Feb 20 (PTI) Karnataka reported 490 new cases of COVID-19 and5 related fatalities on Saturday, taking the total number of infections to 9,47,736 and the death toll to 12,292.

The day also saw 389 patients getting discharged after recovery, pushing the total number of those discharged to 9,29,447, a health department bulletin said.

According to the bulletin, out of 5,978 active cases, 5,851 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and stable, while 127 are in ICU.

A total of over 1,82,79,393 samples have been tested so far, out of which 58,390 were tested today, and 3,846 among them were rapid antigen tests.

Out of the 5 deaths reported on Saturday, 4 are from Bengaluru Urban and one from Tumakuru.

Among the districts where the new cases were reported, Bengaluru Urban accounted for278, Tumakuru 25, Mysuru 20, Kolar, Hassan and Dakshina Kannada 17, followed by others.

Bengaluru Urban district tops the list of positive cases, with a total of 4,03,514 , followed by Mysuru 53,888 and Ballari 39,212.

Among discharges too, Bengaluru Urban tops the list with 3,94,789, followed by Mysuru 52,709 and Ballari 38,590.
