COVID-19: 1,488 new cases in Karnataka, 8 deaths

Bengaluru, Mar 18 (PTI) Karnataka has added over 1,488 fresh infections to its coronavirus tally, taking the total positives to 9.65 lakh while the toll rose to 12,415 with 8 related fatalities, the Health department said on Thursday.

This is for the third consecutive day that the state is reporting over 1,000 new cases.

The day also saw 341 patients getting discharged after recovery.

Out of the 1,488 fresh cases reported on Thursday, 925 were from Bengaluru Urban alone.

As of March 18 evening, cumulatively 9,65,102 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 12,415 deaths and 9,41,309 discharges, the Health department said in its bulletin.

It said, out of 11,359 active cases,11,228 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and are stable, while 131 are in ICU.

Among 8 deaths reported on Thursday, 7 are from Bengaluru Urban and one from Bidar.

Among the districts where the new cases were reported, Bengaluru Urban accounted for 925, Dakshina Kannada 64, Kalaburagi 59, Bidar 53, Mysuru 49, followed by others.

Bengaluru Urban district tops the list of positive cases, with a total of 4,14,410, followed by Mysuru 54,633 and Ballari 39,439.

A total of over 2.01 crore samples have been tested so far, out of which 93,370 were tested on Thursday alone, and 5,973 among them were rapid antigen tests. PTI KSU ROH ROH
