Coronavirus LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a review of Covid-19 preparedness and management in seven high focus states and Union Territories on Wednesday. These states and Union Territories are Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Punjab. India's Covid-19 case tally crossed the 55-lakh mark on Tuesday with a spike of 75,083 new cases and 1,053 deaths in last 24 hours. The total case tally stands at 55,62,664 including 9,75,861 active cases. The number of those who have been cured, discharged or migrated is 44,97,868 while the death toll climbed to 88,935. India's coronavirus testing numbers also saw a dip with 9,33,185 Covid-19 samples being tested on Monday. With this, the total number of samples tested so far stands at 6,53,25,779, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. Meanwhile, the death toll from the spread of the coronavirus in the United States was approaching over 200,000 on Monday, by the far the highest number of any nation.

◕ Dip in Covid-19 Testing | Testing numbers fell again with 9,33,185 Covid-19 samples tested on Monday. With this, the total number of samples tested so far stands at 6,53,25,779, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. The testing numbers across the country have been witnessing a dip over the last week, resulting in the fall in the fresh cases.

◕ No More Lockdown in Meghalaya, Says CM Sangma | Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday made it clear that his government is not in favour of imposing any further lockdown in the state again, despite increasing cases of COVID-19. "Lockdown is not really a solution, but only a mechanism to delay the spread of coronavirus. Therefore, the government will not enforce further lockdown. We can not simply close down the economy," he told reporters after chairing a review meeting here.
◕ The Ministry of Health said today that India recorded very high single-day recoveries successively during the last three days. More than 90,000 Covid-19 patients have been cured and discharged from home or facility isolation and hospitals every single day, it added. "This high rate of daily recoveries has positioned India as the top country globally with maximum number of recovered cases. This has also pushed the recovery rate to a high of more than 80%," Ministry of Health said.
◕ Adopt Proactive Approach in Dealing with COVID-19: J&K Official | Amid spike in coronavirus cases in Jammu, a top government official on Monday directed heads of departments to adopt proactive approach in dealing with COVID-19, besides monitoring the situation round-the-clock, news agency PTI reported. Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo, called upon the medical fraternity to work in close coordination to ensure best treatment to COVID-19 in Jammu division. He asked the heads of institutions to adopt proactive approach towards dealing with COVID-19 cases.
