18 Dec 2020: Coronavirus: India's tally nears 99.8 lakh with 27K+ new cases
India on Thursday reported over 27,000 fresh coronavirus infections pushing the nationwide tally to 99.78 lakh cases.
Meanwhile, the death toll climbed to 1,44,843 with at least 300 more fatalities in the past 24 hours.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, over 95 lakh patients have recovered from the viral disease. The recovery rate has now reached 95.4%.

Statistics: Health Ministry confirms 99,56,557 COVID-19 cases, 1,44,451 deaths
According to data compiled from official state and union territory government statistics, India has reported 99,78,383 cases and 1,44,843 deaths (including co-morbid fatalities).
Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries has reached 95.2 lakh.

Maharashtra: 18,84,773 total cases, 48,499 deaths, 17,74,255 recoveries.
Karnataka: 9,05,901 total cases, 11,981 deaths, 8,78,696 recoveries.
Andhra Pradesh: 8,77,348 total cases, 7,069 deaths, 8,65,825 recoveries.
Tamil Nadu: 8,03,516 total cases, 11,942 deaths, 7,81,745 recoveries.
Kerala: 6,88,409 total cases, 2,734 deaths, 6,27,364 recoveries.
Delhi: 6,13,357 total cases, 10,182 deaths, 5,90,977 recoveries.
Uttar Pradesh: 5,70,789 total cases, 8,136 deaths, 5,44,503 recoveries.
Key updates: Nearly 5K new cases in Kerala; Gujarat's tally reaches 2.32L
Kerala reported 4,969 new cases, marking a daily positivity rate of 8.1% with 60,851 tests. The Centre has asked states to limit the positivity rate under 5%.
3,880 more people tested positive in Maharashtra, marking a daily positivity rate of 6.2% with 62,507 tests.
In Gujarat, daily infections stood at 1,115. The state's tally has climbed to 2,32,188, including 4,211 deaths and 2,15,528 recoveries.
Key updates: Delhi reports 1.3K new cases; Bengal's tally reaches 5.3L
1,363 more people tested positive in Delhi. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.5% with 90,354 tests conducted on Thursday.
West Bengal reported a spike of 2,245 new cases, pushing the state's tally to 5,30,456. 9,235 patients have died in the state while 5,01,624 have recovered.
Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh reported 1,539, 1,236, 1,174, and 534 new cases respectively.
