Congress party set for a makeover, election of party president between Sept 16-Oct 15: Sources

Congress party is all set for a makeover in the months to come.

According to party sources, the schedule of Congress' tentative organisation polls in being circulated among the Pradesh Committees (State Units).

Election of party president is expected to be completed by October 15, sources in the party say.

The schedule of organisational elections is being circulated among the party's state committees by Congress' Central Election Committee, which is headed by chairman Mullapally Ramachandran.

The schedule states that election to the post of Congress president will be held between September 16 and October 15. The polls will also be held for block Congress committees, district Congress committees, state Congress committees and AICC members.

CONGRESS WORKING COMMITTEE MEET IN EARLY MAY

The Congress Working Committee - the highest decision-making body in the party - is expected to meet early next month.

The organisational elections will be followed by a plenary meeting, the date for which is yet undecided but is likely to be held in Karnataka.

The party high command has also told the state committees to complete the membership drive by May 15.

Election Commission of India has asked Congress to complete its organisational elections before December this year.
