Congress MP Kharge submits dissent note against appointment of Justice Mishra as NHRC Chairperson

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has submitted dissent on the appointment of Justice Arun Mishra as the Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission. The Congress MP has argued that most of the complaints against violation of rights are against members from privileged communities of the society. Hence, the Chairperson of NHRC should be from an underprivileged community i.e. either the scheduled castes or the scheduled tribes. Justice Mishra had stirred controversy last year in an international conference of judges by praising PM Modi and saying that he is a versatile leader who thinks globally and acts locally.
