Congress Meghalaya MLA joins BJP, says I'm a prodigal son who returned
Meghalaya MLA and former Congress member A L Hek joined the BJP along with 3 legislators from other parties.
Meghalaya MLA and former Congress member A L Hek joined the BJP today in Shillong, and said he was a prodigal son who had returned.
Hek joined the BJP along with 3 other MLAs from other parties.
BJP leader Ram Madhav, who attended the ceremony said earlier today that four MLAs would join his party.
A L Hek left the Congress yesterday, dealing the Grand Old Party a blow ahead of this year's assembly election in Meghalaya.
That happened after five Congress MLAs, including former deputy chief minister Rowell Lyngdoh, resigned from the Assembly and announced they would join the National Peoples Party (NPP), an NDA ally of the BJP, on January 4.
Along with them, three other legislators - one from the UDF and two Independents - have also decided to cross over to the NPP, headed by Conrad K Sangma, the son of former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma. (Inputs from PTI)
