Already facing flak over the Rajasthan crisis and its leaders making unsavoury comments on Lord Rama before the foundation stone ceremony in Ayodhya, the Congress has managed to spark off yet another needless controversy.
The official Twitter handle of Chattisgarh unit of the party posted an obnoxious tweet, apparently referring to about Home Minister Amit Shah, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
“You have now meddled with coronavirus, too. Would you be able to ‘finish’ it?,” the tweet, posted in Hindi, said.
To be more brazen, it added: “Remembering Justice Loya”.
The Congress had accused Shah of being behind the ‘murder’ of Justice Brijgopal Harkishan Loya who had died in December 2014.
The family of Justice Loya refuted the charges and maintained that he died of heart attack. And even though there has been no evidence linking Shah with the demise of Judge Loya, the Congress never issued any apology.
With such a distasteful tweet amid the deadly pandemic, the party seems to have debased political discourse further.
However, the Congress has now deleted the tweet.
