Colin Munro Becomes First Batsman to Hit Three T20I Centuries, Achieves Feat During New Zealand vs Windies 3rd T20I

Colin Munro reached the milestone off just 47 deliveries.

New Delhi: New Zealand opener Colin Munro has become the first batsman to register three T20I centuries. The left-hander achieved the feat against Windies in the third and final T20I in Mount Maunganui. Munro reached the milestone off just 47 deliveries and was eventually dismissed on an individual score of 104 runs.

Apart from three centuries, Munro, who made his T20I debut against South Africa in 2012, has five T20I fifties under his belt as well.

Munro’s maiden century in T20Is came around the same time last year against Bangladesh when the left-hander scored 101 off 54 balls. A few months back, he scored his second T20I hundred against India in Rajkot in November. He finished 109 off 58 balls, which is his highest score in T20Is.

Munro has been in good form recently, smashing three consecutive fifty-plus scores against Windies in the three-match series. In the opening T20I, the 30-year-old batsman scored 53 in Nelson. New Zealand won that game by 47 runs.

He then continued his good show and in a rain-abandoned second T20I in Mount Maunganui scored 66 off just 23 balls.

Meanwhile, New Zealand posted their highest total in T20Is going past their previous best of 214/6 against Australia at Christchurch in 2010. Thanks to Munro’s century and Martin Guptill’s 63, New Zealand managed to score 243/5.

Kiwis already lead the three-match series 1-0, having won the first T20I before the second one was abandoned due to rain.
