Radhakrishnan Nair, the Managing Editor of CNN-News18, passed away in the wee hours of Tuesday, 27 November. He was 54 years old.
Nair was reportedly battling post-surgery complications after he underwent a kidney transplant a few months ago. On ventilator support for the past three weeks, Nair passed away following multi-organ failure on Tuesday.
Nair took over as the managing editor at CNN-IBN (now CNN-News18) in September 2014.
With over 25 years of experience in journalism, Nair started his career with UNI in Kerala and then moved to Delhi. His stint with TV news began in 1995 with TV18. He also produced programmes for Doordarshan, BBC, Sony and Asia's first business channel, ABNI.
He ventured into business news with CNBC TV18, following which he moved to CNN-News18 in 2005.
Nair was a Chemistry graduate and a gold medallist in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Journalism in Thiruvananthapuram. He held a Master's degree in Communication and Journalism from the Kerala University.
Friends and family will be paying their last respects to Nair at his Delhi residence on Tuesday between 12-3 pm. His last rites will be performed at his home town in Kerala.

News 24x7 is a silent killer. It’s like being on a treadmill where you can’t switch the keys off. My friend Radha was a link with a gentler past where there was a world beyond breaking news and TRPs, space for friendships, for laughs, for mentoring. And yes, for news! Proud of having worked with him, learnt from him. #RIPRadha
He was brutal with scripts. Tough on show producers and anchors. And a fiend on the dance floor. Could out-dance people half his age. That will be my most enduring memory of him. Happy.— menaka doshi (@menakadoshi) November 27, 2018
