West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee writes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying, ‘Declare January 23 as a national holiday’. CM Mamata Banerjee reminded the prime minister that the Bengal government has been requesting that 23rd January be declared a National Holiday but it has not materialised so far.

CM Mamata Banerjee in her letter to PM Modi said, "You are well aware that 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be celebrated on January 23, 2022. Netaji, one of the Greatest sons of Bengal, is a National Hero, a national leader and an icon of India's freedom movement against the British Rule."

Meanwhile, reacting to Banerjee’ demand, Netaji’s grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose said that declaring the great freedom fighter’s birthday as a national holiday is not that important as the great freedom fighter always wanted to work for the country.
