Chinese New Year is on Friday and this year it’s all about man’s (and woman’s) best friend: the dog. So, to mark the occasion, several brands are celebrating with new capsule collections honoring our four-legged friends. For example, canines got the Gucci treatment with a line including shoes, handbags, wallets, backpacks, sweaters, denim shorts, hoodies, bomber jackets, scarves, and jewelry all using the same dog print made by the artist Helen Downie and inspired by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michelle’s own two Boston Terriers.
When it comes to kicks, both Adidas and Vans launched their own styles commemorating the holiday. Vans teamed up with SANKUANZ for a footwear and apparel collection that highlights the brand’s rebellious ethos and revolves around a “mad dog” theme. And adidas released an exclusive Ultraboost pair of sneakers which features a black and red color way.
But when it comes to merch (specifically tees) you can count on BAPE and Dover Street Market to have your back. From BAPE’s iconic ape paired alongside a dog in black, red or white crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, and tees to a series of collaborations that Dover Street Market made with brands like Nike, Stussy, and Noah and artists like Bianca Chandon and Nick Cave, you’ve got plenty of cool ‘Year of the Dog’ tops to choose from. So, if you’re down for all of DSM’s collabs, mark your calendars on Feb 16. But if you want more options, we’ve rounded up our favorite dog inspired items. Needless to say, all of the pups featured are good boys (and girls).
