Claudius is critical

lTriple Olympic hockey gold winner Leslie Claudius was admitted to a private hospital on Monday. His condition was stated to be "critical". He is suffering from cirrhosis of liver. He had returned home a few days back after being treated at another hospital, but his condition deteriorated thereafter.

Air India and Punjab National Bank virtually booked their semi-final berths after registering their second successive wins in the Sahara India 117th All-India Beighton Cup on Monday.

In a Group A quarter final league match, Punjab National Bank beat RCF Kapurthala 5-2. Ajitesh Roy scored a hat-trick while Hardeep Singh and Ranjit Singh were the other scorers. The Kapurthala outfit scored through Karanpreet Singh and Sunder Singh. In another match, Air India rode Joga Singh's strike to beat South Central Railway 1-0.

Kolkata Club Cricket Welfare Organisation, at its first annual function on Monday, felicitated members of the World Cup winning India Under-19 team, Ravikant Singh and Sandipan Das. Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary and former Bengal captain Utpal Chatterjee were among those present.
