Chhattisgarh: Lockdown to continue with certain relaxations

Raipur, May 31 (PTI) The coronavirus-induced lockdown in Chhattisgarh, which was scheduled to end on Monday, will continue with some relaxations in restrictions in those districts where the COVID-19 case positivity rate is less than five per cent, the state government said.

Instructions in this regard were issued to all district Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) late Monday evening, a senior public relations department official said.

'Lockdown to be continued (in the state) with further relaxations,' a statement said.

District collectors will issue orders in their respective areas, it said.

Districts such as Raigarh, Janjgir and Surajpur where the case positivity rate is above 5 per cent shall continue to witness restrictions on shops as was instructed earlier.

However, these districts shall allow few relaxations to the lockdown, but in any case, shops that will be allowed to open, must close by 6 pm till next morning, the statement said.

All other districts with less than 5 per cent positivity rate can allow the opening of all shops and establishments, except cinema halls, theatres, swimming pools, water parks, theme parks, places of gathering, it said.

All shops and markets in these districts shall open in the morning at their scheduled times, but shall close at 6 pm, which means all establishments shall remain closed from 6 pm till next morning in all districts, it said.

All government offices shall open as per earlier instructions, with full attendance for Class I and II officers while with 50% attendance of the lower-rank employees, it said.

Lockdown will be in force in all districts on Sunday till further instructions.

Section 144 of the CrPC, which bars assembly of four or more people, will continue to be in force across the state, it added.

In those districts where the positivity rate is less than 5 per cent, marriages and receptions shall be permitted in hotels and marriage halls, subject to a maximum 50 per cent of the capacity of the premises, and not more than 50 attendees are allowed under any circumstances, it said.

Processions and gatherings of any kind like social, cultural, religious, political etc and sports shall continue to be prohibited, it said.

On May 24, the state government had allowed the opening of all markets and shops till 6 pm in those districts where the COVID-19 case positivity rate has come down to eight per cent or less than it.

As of Sunday, Chhattisgarh recorded 9,69,300 COVID-19 cases, including 13,016 deaths. PTI TKP NSK NSK
