Chennai Corporation urges Covid patients to make use of Tele-Medicine facility - Here's how it works

The hospitals in Chennai- both government and private, are overwhelmed due to the sheer number of Covid cases that are being reported in the city. In a bid to ease the pressure faced by these hospitals, the Greater Chennai Corporation has once again revamped the operations of the of the Tele Medicine facility at the their headquarters. At the Tele Medicine Centre, a team of around 20 doctors work in shifts to provide required medical assistance to Covid positive patients who are under home quarantine and others through video conferencing. People of Chennai can download the GCC VidMed application on their phones to consult with the doctors online. The doctors will assist and guide the patients as to what they need to do if their symptoms get severe, what medicines they need to take and provide other medical advise. They also coordinate with the main control room of the Chennai Corporation if required to address the needs of the patients. At present, the services of the Tele Medicine Centre can be availed through the GCC VidMed App. The Chennai Corporation is also planning to expand the operations and make it more accessible in the coming days.
