Mohamed Salah scored a stunning goal to power his side to a 2-0 victory over Chelsea.
But the incredible goal got overshadowed by the way he celebrated after scoring it. Twitter went into a frenzy after Salah stood on his right leg with his eyes closed and hands together.
The Much Anticipated Explanation
Emma Stubbs, who has been practicing yoga for nine years and runs her own yoga business explained Salah’s celebration to British tabloid, Mirror that the 26-year-old was doing the “tree pose.”
"In the tree pose, you normally extend your hands over your head," she said adding that this was done to show honour to the people close to you, in this case Liverpool fans,” said Stubbs.
“If that's what he was going for then he hit the nail on the head in his celebration,” she said.
I’m a Yoga Man: Salah
Salah’s celebration therefore, explains the claim made by Stubbs. When asked about the celebration in a post-match interview to Sky Sports, Salah said that he is a “yoga man.”
"“I am a yoga man. I do yoga and it just came into my mind”" - Mohamed Salah
I love the Mo Salah praying mantis celebration, but how did he manage to stay up for so long on just one leg?— The Tears of a Clown (@Modmuffin) April 14, 2019
He struggles to stay up on two feet most of the time...

‘A Response to Racist Fans?’ Twitter Asks
Nearly four days before the 14 April match, a video was doing rounds on social media showing a small group of football fans calling Salah a “bomber.” The racist video was seen as an apparent attack on Salah’s religion.
Hence, several Twitter users viewed his ‘yoga’ celebration as a response to racist comments hurled at him ahead of the Chelsea game.
In the week Chelsea fans taunted the religion of Islam by Insinuating Mo salah was a bomber because he’s an Arab Muslim ,wasn’t it just beautiful and poetic justice that two Muslims scored the goals against the very club of them vile supporters ...I really love this game #LFC ??— Grizz (@GrizzKhan) April 14, 2019
Racially abused by Chelsea fans midweek, Mo Salah reacts in the most brilliant way you could ever imagine. What a footballer, but more importantly, what a man ❤️ pic.twitter.com/xAjhlSyeR7— Empire of the Kop (@empireofthekop) April 14, 2019
One fan also pointed out that it was not a “professional” celebration from the Egyptian player.
What is the basis of doing wonder celebration against ur former team @MoSalah ...u might ve ur reasons though but not too professional— GODWIN NWACHUKWU (@c4godwin) April 14, 2019
