CBI raids 40 locations in Punjab and Haryana

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started conducting raids on around 40 godowns in Punjab and 10 in Haryana, storing rice and wheat for the Food Corporation of India (FCI). Multiple teams of the central agency, along with CRPF personnel have begun the raids collecting samples of wheat and rice from the stocks of 2019-20 and 2020-21. The godowns raided include those of Punjab Grains Procurement Corporation, Punjab Warehousing, and a few of the Food Corporation of India. Raids are underway at Moga, Fazilka, Patti among other places in Punjab. This comes after the worsening deadlock between the farmers from these states and the Centre over the new farm laws.
