Ahmedabad, Mar 16 (PTI) The Gujarat High Court on Monday said it will only take up urgent matters from Tuesday till March 31 in view of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
It will hold sitting on usual time at 11 am and only those matters categorised as urgent on the cause list will be taken up at the discretion of the court, said a circular issued by the registrar of the Gujarat High Court.
As part of measures to tackle the outbreak, the state Assembly also restricted entry of visitors during the budget session till March 31, and no visitor will be allowed in the gallery of the Vidhan Sabha, a release from the secretariat of the Gujarat Assembly said.
The renowned Somnath Temple cancelled its programmes till March 31, though the temple will remain open for devotees to offer prayers.
'Programmes which are not urgent and which require gatherings in large number have been cancelled. The number of devotees has already gone down. Prayers and aarti will continue but two-three major programmes planned for the month have been cancelled,' said temple trustee PK Lahiri.
Other religious organisations and temples have also decided not to hold events in view of the coronavirus threat.
