New Delhi, May 3 (PTI) Cardamom prices rose by 0.54 per cent to Rs 1,020 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in building up fresh bets amid rise in its physical demand in the domestic spot market.
Further, restricted arrivals in the spot markets from major producing regions gave push to rising cardamom prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June was trading higher by Rs 5.50, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 1,020 per kg with trading volume of just six lots.
Similarly, the contract for May too traded at Rs 1,219.40 per kg, up by Rs 3.30, or 0.27 per cent with trading volume of 10 lots.
Traders said, widening of positions by participants, driven by surge in demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly kept cardamom prices higher in futures trade.
