Cabinet Expansion 2.0: Kiren Rijiju takes charge of Law Ministry

Kiren Rijiju was sworn in as the new Minister of Law and Justice on Thursday. In a dramatic overhaul and extension of the Union Council of Ministers, Rijiju, a prominent face from the northeast in the Modi government, was elevated as a Cabinet minister on Wednesday. Ravi Shankar Prasad, who resigned from the government, is replaced by Rijiju in the important ministry. Kiren Rijiju has been associated with various initiatives in the ministry during his two years as Sports Minister, including the Fit India program. He has expressed and fought toward the aim of India winning double-digit medals at the Olympics.
